Street vendors of Delhi formed Four Different federations to tackle the laxity of Municipal Bodies in implementing the Central Act

Each of the Federation formerly elected separate committee to create pressure on the respective Municipal Bodies

Training of 1000 food vendors of Delhi will be organized on 24th of December

 

New Delhi, 26 November:

Street vendors of Delhi formed Four Different federations to tackle the laxity of Municipal Bodies in implementing the Central Act. Each of the Federation formerly elected separate committee to create pressure on the respective Municipal Bodies. The National Coordinator of NASVI Mr.Arbind Singh welcomed High court intervention in case of Prakash Jaiswal Vs EDMC in which the court ordered the EDMC to place their representation before Town Vending Committee. He informed that yesterday i.e. 25th November the Town vending Committee of EDMC met and decided that the petitioner Prakash Jaiswal and other should be allowed to Vend. Mr. Singh exhorted the vendor’s leaders present, to evoke Central Act 2014, No Vendor can be evicted before conduct of survey.

Lawyer of NASVI Mrs. Sampriti urged the vendor’s leaders to record evidence of harassment to be produced in the court as this evidence will help to get the verdict. Mrs. Sangeeta Singh informed that a training of 1000 food vendors of Delhi will be organized on 24th of December. The meeting was presided over by Anuradha Singh who conducted the election process of four federations and also facilitated preparation of Action plan. It was decided that

  1. Digitization of the record available with Street Vendors
  2. Building Pressure on Delhi Government to Notice Scheme under Section 38 of Central Act
  3. Bringing the Street Vendors of NCR into the fold
  4. Taking up Jama Masjid eviction of vendors to court
  5. Making more Street Vendors buy shares of NASVI Street Food Private Ltd.
