Dear Members
The StreetNet has announced to celebrate International Street Vendors Day on 14 November every year to celebrate the contribution of street vendors to national economies as well as the society at large. This year it will coincide with the 10th Anniversary of StreetNet. The theme of this year celebration is Accelerate Organizing and Fight for Representative Voice & Livelihood and Social Security Rights.
National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) calls upon all its member organizations to celebrate this International Street Vendors Day on 14 November raising demand that the Government of India must ensure enactment of Inclusive and Effective Central Law in the upcoming winter session of Parliament.
The International Street Vendors Day would be a red letter day and a source of inspirational energy for the organizations working for livelihood democracy and participative democracy of millions of street vendors in numerous countries.
The day would not just foster the international solidarity, but also spur the movement for national legislations in different countries.
We are proud that the day comes when the struggle of street vendors of India under the banner of NASVI has yielded positive results and the Indian Government is all set to enact a national legislation to protect livelihood and social security rights of street vendors.
Seize the Opportunities, March Ahead!
In Solidarity
