The long-nurtured dream of becoming an entrepreneur was finally realised by Jamwanti Devi, a 46-year-old resident of Piprauli in Gorakhpur. Well-versed with the art of making soya-paneer at home, she lacked adequate funds to realise her dreams. Guided by community mobiliser of #NASVI during meetings of Self-Help Groups on various credit schemes and skill training, Jamwanti understood the concept of a Cash-Credit-Loan (CCL) – a short-term loan to start business in rural areas. Soon, she proposed a meticulous & comprehensive business plan to SBI, Piprauli branch, in July this year, that granted her a loan amounting Rs 50,000 to purchase machinery and raw products. She has been regularly producing 12 kgs of soya-paneer daily from last one month.
Jamwanti’s hard work is paying off. She is earning profit of Rs 1000 on daily basis by selling soya-paneer in nearby city markets. Now, a confident Jamwanti plans to open a culinary corner that offers paneer delicacies. She dreams of developing economic resilience through this collective effort, bringing women from the corners to the center stage.
