NASVI brought together 200 street vendor leaders in New Delhi to discuss the upcoming Town Vending Committee (TVC) elections and strengthen awareness of vendors’ rights and responsibilities. Participants called for only practising street vendors with valid Certificates of Vending (CoV) to contest and vote in TVC elections, while also demanding greater transparency in the election process.
The meeting highlighted concerns around representation, heavy penalties, and ease of doing business for vendors. Participants also proposed measures to improve vending conditions and adopted resolutions to strengthen vendor participation and accountability in TVC governance.
