A rally was organized on vendor’s day from bailey road to Patna Municipal Corporation campus. Nearly 700 vendors participated in the rally to demand for early creation of vending zones in Patna and enrollment of street vendors into RSBY.
The rally started from Hartali more at 12 Noon .slogans like “vending zone ka nirman jald karo”,jo hamse takraiga mitti me mil jayega”, “hame bhi RSBY me shamil karo” marked the streets vendors leaders of market committees like santosh kumar, Dinesh kumar,Akhilesh Kumar,Punam D evi, Ramparo Devi, leaded with their demands and slogans.
Informal workers leader Sri Chandraprakash ji ,lead the rally with NIDAN staffs ,Rakesh Tripathy, Sonal Sinha, Rajan Shah, Shivpujan Ram, Praveen Mishra, Sanjay Kumar.
Addressing the crowd Chandraprakash ji said that, Govt will have to listen to our needs and demands. The issues of eviction of street vendors, harassment, no identity, etc. should be taken care of immediately .The Labour Department should start the process of enrolment of street vendors into RSBY.
National Union Of Informal Workers Secretary, Sri Rakesh Tripathy addressed the mass issues saying that creation of vending zone is an immediate need and the govt. should not keep on ignoring this. The land identified for vending zones should be used for the purpose.
Programme Manager, Nidan Sonal Sinha, focused that the vending zone issue now has become the news of newspapers only. In reality nothing is being done. The enrolment of vendors into RSBY has also been subject that is being unheard of . The Labour Resource Dept. is not active on the issue.
Rajan Sah, Programme Manager, Nidan ,said that the govt. has plenty of schemes for the poor but it is very difficult to get the benefit out of that. The process is very long for the benefit.
Shivpujan Ram , Project Coordinator ,NASVI, asked the govt. for active initiation of the process of vending zone. The need of the vendors to organize and associate themselves with an organization.
From hartali more the rally marched towards Dak bunglow and then assembled at Maurya Lok complex, under PMC Office.
A memorandum was submitted to the Commissioner and the Minister Labour Resource Department.
