In a collaborative effort to promote safe food culture and reduce food-borne diseases, the National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI), with the support of Nestlé India, organized a Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) program for 300 street food vendors in Manipur.
The initiative, backed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (@fssai_safefood) and the Department of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW), Govt. of Manipur, aims to encourage adoption of hygiene practices by street food vendors—enhancing their livelihoods, improving public health, and boosting the state’s gastronomy tourism.
Mr. Somorjit Salam, Special Secretary of DoHFW, commended the training for its positive role in public health, tourism, and economic development. The inaugural event was graced by Dr. Chambo Gonmei, Director of DoHFW, and Mr. Surojit Mukherjee, Head of Corporate Affairs, Nestlé India, along with Mr. Sanjay Simon Sen, Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs, Nestlé India.
