NASVI launches an interactive learning tool designed to help street food vendors adopt safer and more hygienic food practices.
The innovative “Safe Food Game” simplifies food safety education by making it engaging, accessible, and practical for vendors serving millions across India.
The Safe Food Game is an interactive, quiz-based learning tool that enables vendors to understand essential food safety practices in a simple and practical way. Through this game, vendors gain knowledge about hygiene, safe food handling, cleanliness of carts and vending spaces, and other important practices required to maintain safe and hygienic street food.
Street food vendors who took part in the launch showed active participation in the quiz and shared positive feedback about the experience. Many vendors appreciated the gamified format, noting that learning through interactive questions made food safety concepts easier to grasp and remember.
The game was inaugurated by Anil Chopra, Director of Nexus 3P Foundation; Ananya Panday, SBCD Manager at the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI); Pawan Kumar, Deputy Secretary for PM SVANidhi at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA); Takayuki Hagiwara, Country Representative for India at the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO); and Arbind Singh, National Coordinator, NASVI—bringing an innovative and engaging approach to educating street food vendors on safe food practices.
This initiative reflects NASVI’s continued commitment to supporting vendors through capacity building, awareness programmes, and collaborative efforts aimed at improving food safety and public health.
The event was supported by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited @bpclimited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited @hpcl, and Indian Oil Corporation @indianoilcorp
