On 3rd September 2025, representatives from nine Market Committees came together at Ramlila Maidan, Rajghat, Gorakhpur, for the historic formation of the Town Level Federation of Street Vendors.
Objective: To unify vendor collectives, strengthen advocacy, ensure coordination with the Town Vending Committee (TVC), and address day-to-day issues of street vendors.
Key Outcomes:
• Election of office bearers through a democratic process
• Unanimous naming of the federation as “Gorakhpur Patari Vyawasai Kalyan Samiti”
• Decision to register under the Society Registration Act, 1860
• Resolution to hold monthly meetings on the 5th of every month
