On the eve of Vendors’ Day, a large meeting was organised in Rajgir, in which more than 1,000 street vendors participated. The meeting was graced by Hon’ble MSME Cabinet Minister Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi as the Chief Guest. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp, after which the Minister addressed the street vendors, extended his greetings on Vendors’ Day, and appreciated their significant contribution to the local economy.
During the meeting, NASVI placed its key demands before the Cabinet Minister. NASVI stated that after receiving the PM SVANidhi loan, street vendors do become eligible for Mudra loans, but this support alone is not sufficient to transform them into entrepreneurs in the true sense. NASVI demanded that, just as farmers receive subsidies for agricultural activities, street vendors should also be provided subsidies so that they can rent shops or purchase essential tools and resources required for their businesses.
The Hon’ble Minister appreciated NASVI’s demands and the concerns raised by the street vendors. He informed the vendors about the Udyam Portal and shared the benefits associated with it. He also assured that he would discuss the demand for subsidies with the Hon’ble Chief Minister.
