Street Food Dialogue

The National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI)is a federation of 888 street vendor organizations from 23 states of India . Nasvi has been advocating for the security of livelihood of street vendors at all levels of Government and has been successful in getting a National Policy for Street Vendors in 2004 and now a Central Act for Street Vendors in 2014 .Besides building capacity of Street Vendors  and their organizations ,NASVI is currently engaged with various Governments for implementation of the Act .

NASVI began organizing Street Food Festival  to change the perception of the food being served by the vendors as well as about the Street Vendors themselves . NASVI has been quite successful in this also as it drew huge crowd and appreciation as well as media attention . Beginning with Delhi  in 2011 we have organized Street Food Festivals in Patna and also Singapore . Efforts of NASVI is to professionalize  and popularize this sector by bringing all stakeholders to address this issue .

Along with the 6th National Street Food Festival ,NASVI is organizing a Street Food Dialogue which will go on simultaneously during the  festival from 25th December to 28th December  . Different Stakeholders will be invited for the Dialogue

  Shri. Vir Sanghvi

Vir Sanghvi is the best-known Indian journalist of his generation. His career straddles print, television, books and now, new media.

Vir Sanghvi was born in London in 1956 and educated at Mayo College, Ajmer and Mill Hill School, London. He won an Open Scholarship to read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Brasenose College, Oxford.

  Shri. Ajay Maken Born on the 12th of January 1964, Mr Ajay Maken served as one of the youngest Members of the Delhi Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Rajouri Garden Constituency, first in 1993, then again in 1998 and 2003, each time with an increased vote share and margin of victory . He won the award for the best member of the Legislative Assembly for 1998-1999. He entered the political fray at 21 when he was elected the President of the Delhi University Student’s Union in 1985.   Mr Deepak Mathur CIIDeepak Mathur is associated with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for more than 8 years and has retired with total of 34 years of experience in Industry. He has to his credit several publications on Food Safety and Quality, Training Programmes for different Food Sectors like Bakery, Hotels and Restaurant and FSSA 2006. He has conducted training programmes on behalf of Ministry of Food Processing Industries and is closely working with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, QCI, BIS, IGNOU, NIFTEM and many other Govt. organizations.Date: 26th December – 3.00 PM – 4.00 PM
Mathew Cherian (Executive Director Help Age India)Mathew Cherian is the CEO of HelpAge India. His journey as a social worker began when he stayed with Baba Amte and worked in rural areas. He was soon approached by Oxfam, a UK charity fighting global poverty, to take charge as its director of central India. Mathew worked in tribal areas and became the international director of Oxfam. It was then that the president of HelpAge India wanted Mathew to head the non-profit organisation for the aged.   Chef Kunal KapoorKunal Kapur is an Indian celebrity chef and restaurateur, best known as the host and judge of the TV series MasterChef India on Star Plus. Having Indian cuisine as his cooking style, he is the executive sous chef at Leela Kempinski, Gurgaon. He began his career around 2000, from the Taj group of hotels and worked with many of its hotels in various cities across India. Kunal also opened a restaurant which has achieved the Best Restaurant Award. In January 2008, he was rated as one of the Best Indian chefs in Delhi by India Today and was also titled as “the next big guy in kebabs and curries in India”. Kunal has made television appearances both in India and abroad. Kunal’s name was cited by Limca Book of Records for creating India’s largest “Chocolate Tower.” He won the Gourmet Guru award by Food and Nightlife magazine. He was awarded the prestigious Sir Edmund Hillary Fellowship, in the field of Food & Beverage, by the Government of New Zealand.Date: 28th December – 3.00 PM – 4.00 PM
