On 19 March 2010, National Association of Street Vendors of India staged a massive demonstration in front of Bihar legislative assembly in Patna. There were more than 4000 street vendors from different parts of the state to demand the earliest implementation of National policy for urban street vendors in Bihar. Six months back when NASVI delegation had met Hon’ able chief minister Nitish Kumar, he had assured that that he would implement the policy at the earliest and also stop the contract system, but nothing has happened till date. The demonstration was organized to show the strong protest against the Government for not delaying the process of implementation. NASVI hopes that the demonstration had sent a strong message to the Government for considering the implementation of policy at earliest before the assembly elections in Bihar.
