The Government of Andhra Pradesh held a State-Level Workshop on evolving a State level Policy for street vendors on 10.11.2009 at Dr.MCR Human Resources Development Institute, Hydderabad. Shri.Anam Narayana Reddy, Hon’ble Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development inaugurated the workshop and delivered an inaugural address. Smt.Pushpa Subramanyam IAS,Principal Secretary, Department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development delivered a keynote address and briefed the deliberations of the workshop. Shri.M.Jagadeeshwar IAS, Mission Director, MEPMA presided the workshop. Shri.Dr.N.Sathyanarayana Additional Mission Director, MEPMA gave a presentation on National Policy for Street vendors-2009 and also explained the points for discussion. Shri.P.K.Jha IAS, Special Commissioner, Department of Municipal Administration &Urban Development and Shri.Hanumanth Rao IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) were also present in the workshop. NASVI shared the experiences on implementation of the national policy in different states of India and also contributed meaningful views on the discussion topics.
Purpose of the Workshop:
“To involve various stakeholders to deliberate on the National Street Vendors Policy of the Government of India of 2009 and the procedure being followed in all ULBs in conformance with the existing guidelines in order to arrive at a Model State Policy that reflects the objectives enshrined in the National policy,at the same time protecting and regulating the activity of street vending”
